Positive Feelings

This has been posted lots of other places, but I want to remind you that this expressive internet feelings+music website isn't about breaking the news but more about telling you about my intense personal life through poorly masked and vaguely constructed metaphors. This is where The Donkeys "Nice Train" comes in.

They have carefully soundtracked a montage of wonderful San Diego friends, comical melancholic experiences, a few half empty halls and a few more sweaty house parties. When you drive down to Golden Hill from Mission Bay, planes are landing on your windscreen and the whole damn city is right in front of your face. I'm not saying that everything in this town is a goofy pastiche of late night antics, just that there are a few select San Diego things, like this song, that will forever be a gateway to positive feelings.

Many years later.

Earlier this long long weekend, I was trying to explain the song What Do You Want Me To Do by The Pointed Sticks and the general concept of loving music from one point of time until the present, when I happened across a long running thought in my mind: The Smugglers live in Madrid, playing their song Rock & Roll Was Never This Fun at the Club El Sol. This post is part of my mandate to post more talking, and specifically I'm referring to the times 3:08 through 3:42. Although I have a special place in my heart for this music, this is such a pure, simple and totally sincere moment, accurately recorded and willfully reproduced, that no appreciation for guitar rock music or the joint catalogue of Mint/Lookout Records is required to enjoy and revel in this perfect "LIVE MUSIC" moment.

The Smugglers, I salute you.
