Useless

Which Canadian bands touring to L.A. does Cecil Seaskull meet backstage? Blue Rodeo? Sloan? New Pornographers? I almost guarantee that Lisa Marr is back stage at the New Pornographers show. Do Lisa Marr and Cecil Seaskull ever cross paths? Maybe they were both stuck on I-10 when the left 3 lanes were closed due to and over turned truck.

Gaze - Tea Or Coffee

I've been driving around with Gaze out the windows. A little Tears of the Valedictorian and the odd Notorious Lightning but you've already heard that to death. I'm not trying to be nostalgic, but when L.A. traffic slows from a break down, a mattress and a ladder in the centre divide, I'm looking around for ex-CUB and ex-Nerdy Girl.

real blogging

This post is completely biographical. Start with the music:

The Move - Chinatown

I moved. I rediscovered the Split Ends LP by The Move while doing so. No irony was involved - I've simply matured and 4 years ago, when I picked up the record in Guelph, Ontario, I found it too heavy on the power pop for my harpsichord obsessed mind. Things change and a little guitar/bass/drum combo is all right with me. Don't worry, it's not like I worship the Who yet (is that at 30?). These are some new shelves I built.

Shitty picture of new shelves in my kitchen - Biographical enough for you?

I'm in love with a few different girls in a few different ways. Some of them (you) might read this! I've also been putting off thank yous to a few people. If you read this, thank you! There have been fires and smoke raging everywhere. I've been inside for five days, minus the occasional surf break. Is that song over yet? If yes, listen to this:

Cross Country - Just A Thought

This song isn't my favourite Cross Country song (despite harpsichord!) but I don't think you're ready for Extended Wings or It Tastes So Good To Me. One of the first and last times I ever hosted a party, guests complained because the Ian & Sylvia record I put on was offensive. "Is this country music?" is the paraphrase that most embodies their anger. I'm pretty sensitive about recommending anything remotely country to anybody. I washed my duvet with a machine against the label's instructions. I'm struggling to be useful/meaningful in a public or private forum.

s u i c i d e is blameless.

I think it's called the 'sea to sky' highway. Basically, water, rocks and trees are rearranged from in combinations from delicate to brutal. The next thing you know, between the water and the sky, are crowds of families annoyed by lateness, parking attendants and new cafeteria prices. That was the sunset though - let's recap my absolute favorite things to do in Vancouver:
*("sterile remnants of his father's culture")
*slow walking, getting in the way
*downtown in order: Scratch, Noise, 7-11, The Bay, London Drugs, headache
*north and in the woods
*Casa Gelato
*McCleod's
*sitting and waiting/moving
*All the obvious thingsssssssssssssssssssss
