I left my heart in Budapest (in love with every woman's breasts)

The following is a real internet chat record with names withheld:

me: whoa
i just heard R Kelly's 'I'm a Flirt' on the shuttle from upper campus
so confessional
far more than john darnelle
other e-chatter: i think r. kelly can write about whatever he wants now. john darnelle has to wait until he's convicted of statuatory rape too
me: think how good mountain goats would be if he WAS convicted of statutory rape!!!
you would literally be able to see inside his mind.

I was genuinely shocked by the boldness of 'I'm a Flirt' - it revealed a whole new possibility of confessional song to me. If you haven't heard the song, it basically consists of declarations like ' don't bring your girlfriend over, because I love girls and I will try to seduce her (f.y.i., I'm the king of R&B) '

This completely changed my views on a late 80's/early 90's midwestern 7" EP released by Chris Twining. In the past, it has only served as a tittering source of novelty. NOW it has become an important document of personal strength and integrity.

Nothing does a body good like another body

Southern Californian appreciation:

Lloyd & Michael - A Real Time Here

It's all wrapped up inside;
[]surf vysions (did you notice the same chords as 'the endless summer theme song'?)
[]"out where my head is clear" = the calming scapes of the desert//the ocean
[]distant sirens despite monostatic minimalist kraut/prog relaxation tones.
[]lush vegetation
[]I'm just trying to have a real time

A few more shows left on their tour x

Patience and Understanding

Before you pass this song off as complete novelty, let me explain the value of simple things. Imagine summing up Leonard Cohen's Bird on a Wire as I have tried, in my own way, to be free. For a talentless, poorly read, unoriginal waste of time like myself, hoping for the entirety of Bird on a Wire is a pipe dream, BUT I have tried, in my own way, to be free could maybe fall together in my head (well, typing randomly at 200 wpm in chunks of 40 characters on restricting myself to only 28 keys, it would take about 1 x 10^50 years). So a song like this gives a guy like me hope - the possibility of one single, simple, great idea is very real and powerful.
