Unbelievable

It's not secret that the Lyte Funky Ones song Summer Girls is one of my favorite jamz of all time - totally awesome laid back beats AND amazing lyrics - like seriously FUN and clever lyrics that could bat against the best of them: Bejar, Malkmus, Hansen, The Frogs. Well, enough time has passed that LFO has truly cemented themselves as a one hit wonder (actually, they cracked the top ten twice but I have no idea what the other song sounds like so let's just assume that it was a 'pay to play' top ten hit and not a legitimately great song...) and in the true spirit of crappy birthday gifts, I got my hands on the follow up album, Life is Good. If Summer Girls was a boy band's best effort at name dropping and pun twisting non-sequiturs, the title track from Life is Good is a stroll down the dry realism of P.W. Evrum and sun. The message is simple, the beats are laid back and there's pretty much non-stop record scratching sounds throughout the entire song.

My favorite part of this album was the random guest appearance by Kelis on the bonus track version of "Dandelion".

oh, you mean track 69?

actually, after I put the CD in my player and saw that it had 69 tracks, I almost hit eject instead of play because I didn't want to ruin something so perfect...
