Torontotopia is Nigh, I can feel it, guy.

This is war.
Here's a little Toronto sampler. We're just scratching the surface!
I have more to say, but after uploading songs for hours (!) I must retire. Jay is wrong, wrong, wrong about Toronto! But thanks for totally riling up me and my roommate, Jeff.
Consider this the first installment. There is more to come!
The Hank Collective - In the Middle of Crying
The Guitarkestra - The Torontotopia Is Nigh/I Can Feel It Guy
Russian Futurists - Precious Metals
Royal City - Bad Luck
Bob Wiseman - Born To Love You
The Creeping Nobodies - Treachery
Cuff The Duke - Ballad of a Lonely Construction Worker
Sick Lipstick - Thigh-Master I'm Your Master
The Pauls - Cantankerous Brute
Jim Guthrie - 3am
Thomas and the Evil Computer - Buy Me A Cello
Deep Dark United - Zut Alors
Tradition - Holy Land
SNEAK PREVIEW! Anagram - Looks Like It's Your Fault
Anagram put me in a deep floaty trance. I don't think you'll find this elsewhere for a few weeks.

Do I know how to generate a moster post or what? HA! Good work!
What about the Tragically Barenaked Rodeos?!
tragically, the hip are from k-town.
shhhhhhh.....
very nice selection, just found this blog, i'm from Toronto myself, and I'll be coming back to check this out again...
If the hip are from K-town, Torontopia's from Guelph.
'guy' is steve kado's most ominous trademark.
BSS.....any band that compares themselves to the group of 7 deserves a beat down.
Sure they have some good songs, but get yer head outta yer asses.....
The thing about Toronto, is that no-one's really from Toronto. They're really from Woodbridge, or Ajax, or Halifax, or Victoria, or Jamaica, or Estonia, or Pakistan. It's a lot like Manhattan in that way. But they eventually come to know/love/hate/live in Toronto. It we want to get all specific, the "Ladies" are from Scarberia, and I know a lot of downtown Torontonians that don't count that as truly being Toronto. So let's not argue semantics. You don't have to have been born at St. Mikes to be from Toronto. You just have to have lived there (at some point in time). I mean, otherwise many of the so-called Montreal bands wouldn't really be from Montreal.
shockingly i am usually the first person people meet who was actually born in the annex and still lives there.
also sheepers are you doing that post thing?
Hey rockundrolla: I'm doing the survey, but I don't know about anyone else. I actually kind of like meaningless surveys and lists, though. They're kind of fun.
torontopia's not from guelph?
What's a guelph?Is it contagious?
I heard R City, J Guthrie, Cons, G Reg, A Fire, H Cameras, H Collective all have it or have had it at one time. Oh and I heard B Wiseman got a raging case of it this summer.
Guelphopia doesn't have the same ring.
I LOVE that Anagram song. Thank you so much for posting it. Thomas and the Evil Computer are sweet too. Neat songs.
Finally someone figured out how to get Amy to post something!
Now keep it up Amy! This site has great potential for bridging great distances in canada!
has this blog mentioned The Shoot Horses from in B.C.? Have you folks out there heard them?
Hey Matt, we actually did post a They Shoot Horses song back in May. They are amazing live if you have a chance to see them.
http://popsheep.com/2005/05/they-shoot-horses-dont-they.html
Matt:
I knew two things
A)she would be outraged
B) she knew what is actually happening in T.O..when All I seem to hear is BSS and Stars
These two things = a good post!
The bands most people have heard from toronto, are the worst. The people who have the power to do neat things like DISTRIBUTE, prefer the worst music. Honestly, it's a sad scene like that. But there are others who are trying hard, and others who make great blogs like this one.
Oh boy
I'm really digging this anagram song — makes at least a few minutes, and then another few minutes on replay, go by faster at work. Good tunes. Thanks for introducing me to some new Toronto bands.
That Anagram song is awesome. Most definitely getting this when it comes out.
hey Ian,
yup, saw They Shoot Horses here in Toronto, they were even more wonderful live. I want to search out and album of theirs.
the keyboard guy is THE BEST
T.S.H.D.T Keyboardist = Chrisariffic
He is one hell of a guy. He has a radio show on Citr, called Parts Unknown. I think you can stream it off the web. If you do, you'll love him even more.
Cuff the DUDE? Ahem...
